������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ��

This year on the occasion of International Women’s Day, ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� extends a recognition as Male Warriors to men that have supported women’s participation, leadership and recognition in the environmental sector. We received many nominations for this award from our friends and colleagues, and we have selected seven men, representatives of the hard work that is taking place in each region and country to build a healthy environment and fair human relationships.

������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� is committed to mainstreaming the gender equity and equality approach into its programme, projects and policies; since it is precisely thanks to gender-sensitive initiatives in the environmental sector that it has been possible to identify that men and women experience poverty in a differentiated way, that their contributions are both valuable and crucial to environmental conservation and that sustainable development can be achieved when they are actively participating.

For his empowerment of women in the Energy Sector at a national (India) and international level (ENERGIA), and his initiatives of capacity building and development of renewable Energy

Felix Fellman

For mainstreaming the gender equity and equality approach in sustainable development and poverty alleviation projects of the Swiss Development Cooperation in the Latin American Region

Ahmed Djoghlaf

For his initiative of mainstreaming gender equity and equality throughout the policies and programmes of the Convention on Biological Diversity

German Antonio Vargas Caballero

For his activities as founder of many women’s organizations in Cuba, and empowerment of women to participate in environmental conservation initiatives

Alan Bolt

For his work in Ecuador, were he has linked women’s role in environmental conservation with the improvement of their living condition and prevention of violence

Xavier Moya García

For his work building women’s capacity for risk management and securing water resources in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

Christopher (Krzysztof) KOMORNICKI

For his working in the mountains of the Polish-Czech border; were he has built women’s organizations and implemented initiatives to provide education to women and promote their involvement in environmental conservation initiatives
