������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ��

The presentation was delivered by the Manager ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� Balochistan Programme Mr Zabardast Khan Bangash and the objective of presentation was to sensitize the young generation about the importance of our planet and aware them about the looming threat of global warming and climate change. . A large number of students and faculty members attended the event.

������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� Balochistan Manager Zabardast Khan Bangash said that since mid-1990’s ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� with financial assistance of the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherlands in Pakistan is striving to build the capacity of government and civil society in Balochistan to address the complex and wide ranging environmental issues. He also shared that ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� under its BPSD programme focused on all aspects of natural resource conservation and is playing its role in sensitizing the masses about protection and conservation of the environment.

He gave a detailed presentation on “climate change” and said if the degradation of earth resources through anthropogenic actions continued at the present rate; droughts, cyclones, floods, food shortages and epidemics would increase in the near future. He expressed his hope that the new generation would play its role in conservation of natural resources and creating awareness among the masses. He stated that climate change is no more a local issue and trans-boundary pollution has made Pakistan vulnerable to a number of threats. This is high time for us to think about the negative impacts of climate change and try to strengthen the resilience of the communities to cope up with frequent and extreme weather events the country is likely to see in future.

Mr. Zabardast Khan Bangash shared that ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� started Young Professional Development Programme (YPDP) for University students. In this regard ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� will assist a number of students from the University for Supervised Research in Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity conservation, Ecosystem rehabilitation, Integrated Water Resource Management and Social work. He further informed that internship period will be of four weeks and the interns will be placed at various field locations closer to the university in consultation with the university management on jointly identified research topics.

Voice Chanceller Ms.Sultana Baloch also shared her views and appriciated ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� intervention in SBKWU and showed her interest to work with ������ϲʿ�������ֳ�ֱ�� in future.

Ms.Jamila Qazi Registrar Women University also appriciated the YPDP.
