Event: Building a multi-stakeholder initiative to spur low-carbon development in Brazil

The Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture is hosting an event at the聽FAO鈥檚 Committee on Forestry session (COFO 23), featuring 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 representatives and partners.

The session, "The innovative multi-stakeholder approach for low-carbon economic development in Brazil 鈥 The case of the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture" takes place at ,聽July 21, 2016, 14:00-17:00, and features:

Roberto Waack (Amata and WWF) will discuss how the Brazilian Coalition works and offer lessons learned for other countries. He will focus on how the coalition is able to catalyse action on targets for sustainable production and deforestation-free supply chains by forming valuable partnerships. He will also cover zero (illegal) logging chains, the traceability of wood and the recovery of degraded areas, among other topics related to maintaining natural forests.

Elizabeth de Carvalhaes (IBA 鈥 Brazilian Tree Industry) will present on forests planted for industrial purposes in Brazil and the role of the private sector in combining development and environmental protection.

Miguel Calmon (香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播) will focus on forest landscape restoration and international commitments including the . He will discuss how we can reduce emissions through forest restoration and reforestation and the opportunities for supporting research and technology in this arena.

Luiz Cornacchioni (ABAG 鈥 Brazilian Agribusiness Association) will talk about the role of the agricultural sector in combatting environmental issues and present success stories.

The speakers will be followed by a debate led by Everton Lucero (Brazilian Ministry of Environment), Luiz Neves (New Generation Plantations), Ren茅 Castro (FAO), Ivone Namikawa (Klabin) and Ana Yang (Children鈥檚 Investment Fund Foundation).

The biennial COFO meetings bring together national forest authorities, senior government officials and NGOs to discuss policies and technical issues related to the world鈥檚 forests.
