Abstract

The Endangered Roatán spiny-tailed iguana (Ctenosaura oedirhina) is found only on theislands of Roatán, Barbareta, and some surrounding cays. Although dense populationscan be found in some privately protected locations, threats persist and managementefforts are needed. The Roatán spiny-tailed iguana was first described in 1987 and since then informal anddetailed studies have been conducted to better understand its biology and status. In2010, a long-term monitoring program began, elucidating fluctuations in populationdynamics and threats. This document presents a comprehensive five-year plan for the conservation andmanagement actions considered essential to ensuring the long-term survival of ٱԴDzܰDZ徱󾱲Բ in the wild. This plan combines knowledge and expertise from government, nongovernmentalorganizations, and the community of Roatán and greater Honduras, with thecollective expertise of the ϲʿֱֳ SSC Iguana Specialist Group.
