The update will draw attention to the impact of climate change on biodiversity, which is affecting a growing number of species across the world.

The press conference will highlight the change in status for a selection of species and will reveal the results of the first global freshwater fish assessment.

The assessment highlights and quantifies the impact of threats such as rising sea levels causing seawater to move up rivers, shifting seasons, pollution, invasive species, dams, overfishing and disease.

Press are invited to attend and hear from a panel of international species experts who will give their expert view on the significance of the update and what is signifies for global biodiversity rends.

The Red List is the world’s most comprehensive information source on the global extinction risk status of animal, fungus and plant species and a ‘barometer of life’ that is indicator of the health of the world’s biodiversity.
