Since 1996, I became a plant researcher at South China Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, mainly working on the plant taxonomy of mangroves, Rubiaceae, etc. After finishing my Ph.D. study at Hong Kong University in 2004, I expanded my work to plant investigation and molecular systematics. Profiting from my increasing knowledge about plants and their environment, my research favorite began to cover biodiversity conservation in recent years, and I would like to contribute my life to it.

I began the plant research when I was a college students in 2001. At that time, I developed a keen interest in plant taxonomy and realized the importance of plant conservation, and then continued to get the Doctor's degrees in plant taxonomy. During my Ph.D. study, I mainly carried out the revision of the genus Microtropis (Celastraceae). Meanwhile, I have an interest to record plants by using camera, and currently I have more than 300 thousands photos for over 10 thousands plant species. During my work, I began to collect living plants for the botanical garden and at the same time I managed the information of living plants. In order to know how many plants cultivated in china, I compiled a book named "Catalogue of Cultivated Plants in China", which contains nearly 29 thousands species of plants cultivated in China, including ca. 15 thousands native species and 14 thousands alien species. Recently, I have completed the book Ex Situ Flora of China·Caprifoliaceae, which records 165 species of this family under Ex Situ conservation in China. And I also participated in the compilation of Alien Invasive Flora of China.
