Highlights of IPBES-8
The 8thÌýsession of the IPBES Plenary convened virtually from 14 to 24 June 2021. It was preceded by the IPBES Stakeholder Days from 3 to 9 June 2021, and by regional consultations from 7 to 11 June 2021.
The 8thÌýsession of IPBES Plenary focused on the scoping reports of the two assessments that were decided during the 7thÌýsession of IPBES Plenary, i.e. the Nexus and the Transformative Change assessments. The Nexus assessment is to examine the interlinkages among the sustainable development goals related toÌýfoodÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýwaterÌý²õ±ð³¦³Ü°ù¾±³Ù²â,ÌýhealthÌýfor all, protectingÌýbiodiversityÌýon land and in the oceans and combatingÌýclimate change. The transformative change assessment is to address theÌýunderlying causesÌýof biodiversity loss, determinants ofÌýtransformative changeÌýand options for achieving theÌý2050 vision for biodiversity. Thanks to the France-Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ partnership and through in-kind support to IPBES Secretariat, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ was a key contributor to theÌý#IPBES8 Stakeholder Days.ÌýÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ was publicly thanked for its support by IPBES Executive Secretary in the #IPBES8 Stakeholder Days opening session on 3 June.ÌýMore information on #IPBES8 Stakeholder DaysÌý.
