Ghana: national level mangroves platform meet to draw up action plan and make inputs into small grants project strategies

As part of the EU-Funded 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 Mono-Volta Mangroves Project being implemented in Songor Lagoon and Anlo-Keta Lagoons in Ghana, Roy Mouth in Benin and Mono Delta Biosphere Reserve in Benin and Togo Ghana; national platforms have been established in each of the target countries to provide strategic directions towards successful implementation of the project.

Ghana鈥檚 National Mangroves Platform is a 21-member platform made up of representatives from key government, civil society and community level organisations.

The platform met on 13th July 2021 at Paloma Hotel, North Ridge Accra to discuss and develop an action plan that will help to streamline the activities on contributions of the platform to the implementation of the mangroves project as well as sustainable management of mangroves resources in general. The platform also joined 14 other stakeholders from the landscape and national level to review and make inputs into the implementation strategies of the 2 Ghanaian based winners of the first small grants call instituted under the project. The winners of the small grants call are the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) whose proposal centres on research -鈥淒eveloping a Hydrology Quality Index (MHQI) for assessing Mangrove Ecosystem Health Status in the Keta Lagoon Complex of Ghana鈥 and A Rocha Ghana who will be working on livelihoods and capacity building- 鈥淧romoting Conservation, Pro-conservation livelihoods and community-based management of Mangrove ecosystems in the South-western end (Anyanui-Bomigo) of the Keta-Lagoon Complex Ramsar Site Area, Ghana鈥 .
