Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s objectives in attending this meeting were threefold. The first was to increase awareness amongst regional countries of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s recent accreditation to the GCF and highlight the comparative advantage Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ brings to countries in as a delivery partner in securing readiness funding and developing concept proposals for funding by the GCF. The second was to better understand countries GCF priorities and the third was to strengthen partnerships with other Accredited Agencies in the region.
In the latter stages of the meeting Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ also had bilateral meetings with country delegates and accredited entities who were attending the meeting. A number of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s programme coordinators also assisted with the bilateral meetings and from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s perspective the GCF meeting was very fruitful and has laid the foundation for building a strong Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s GCF portfolio in Oceania.
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Oceania will now work in partnership with other accredited agencies and selected countries in developing GCF submissions in the agreed priority areas of renewable energy, forests, coastal resilience and oceans planning. It is envisaged that Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s effort will contribute to the overarching goal of climate change mitigation and adaptation and bring about transformational change in the Pacific.
