Thailand businesses continue to innovate to conserve nature, amidst pandemic

The Thailand Bio-Diversity Network Alliance (B-DNA) conducted its Third Virtual Get-Together Meeting last 17 May 2021. Participated in by 60 members, the meeting served as a venue for members to provide updates on the conservation projects they currently implement even with the restrictions brought by the pandemic.

Mr. Jake Brunner, Head, Indo-Burma Group, 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 gave the opening remarks and acknowledge the milestones of the platform, 鈥淭he success of the Thailand Bio-Diversity Network Alliance has inspired the Viet Nam platform to implement similar conservation projects and further influence businesses to do more for nature.鈥

This is followed by the presentation of Dr. Benjamaporn Wattanathongchai, Environmentalist Senior Professional Level from the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy Planning, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and B-DNA advisory committee member, on the "Biodiversity conservation priorities for Thailand, National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans" and "Post 2021 Biodiversity Framework and Private sector role in contribution to Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) Targets."

She highlighted the gains of the country in achieving the SDGs and shared Thailand鈥檚 Post-2021 biodiversity targets. In doing so, she underscored the role of the private sector, 鈥淕overnments cannot do conservation work alone, we need the help of everyone, especially the private sector in making a difference in conserving the country鈥檚 natural heritage鈥

Interestingly, B-DNA members continue to achieve their environmental conservation goals even with the impediments and restrictions of the pandemic.

Ms. Siriporn Sriaram, Acting Head, Thailand Programme, gave an update on the accomplishments of the platform for 2020. She shared that B-DNA has been recognised in the 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 report, 鈥淎dvancing Action on Nature through Business Platforms,鈥 as one among the progressive activities towards environmental and nature conservation. BDNA also led the conduct of the Thailand Biodiversity Mapping activity, which explores the status of species in the country and determines necessary interventions.

Members also shared their activities such as the educational center for sustainability by Toyota at Bangpho, Gulf of Thailand. A clean up and restoration activity was also conducted to lessen the amount of garbage to the environment especially within the coastal restoration site of the locality. 听

Lastly, the members discussed their workplan for 2021. The plan includes the conduct of consultative meeting for collaborative activities, virtual capacity development trainings, and participation to environment-related international day celebrations.
