More about the Specialist Group
The Atlantic Islands are a geographically discrete grouping, where there is an exceptionally high level of invertebrate endemism plus intense pressures on the natural environment. AIISG provides a catalyst for invertebrate conservation on the Atlantic Islands carrying out research and red listing, facilitating single and multi-species conservation planning exercises and supporting or delivering conservation action.听

MISSION
We aim to assess all endemic species of Atlantic Islands.
Specialist Group work
The AIISG focuses on identifying existing, new and emerging threats to Atlantic Islands terrestrial Invertebrates and assessing individual species to determine the overall health of the population and how close or how far they are from extinction.
Terrestrial Invertebrates face both known and emerging threats. AIISG studies these at local and regional levels.
