As wildlife ecologist, Mirza focuses on the conservation of amphibians and reptiles in tropical forest ecosystems. She also doing research on the trade in amphibians and reptiles, and human wildlife conflicts. In the last 15 years, Mirza has been heavily involved in mainstreaming amphibian and reptile research in Indonesia and has encouraged capacity building of young researchers in the field of herpetology. Mirza was one of the founders of the Herpetological Society of Indonesia and the initiator of the citizen science project “Our Amphibian Reptile Observation Movement” or GO ARK which aims to improve amphibian and reptile distribution data using citizen science as a tool. An ecologist, with a particular interest in promoting stewardship and recovery of wildlife and nature through regenerative developments. Having around 25 years of experience in conservation, recent works focus on the research, protection, and restoration of biodiversity including wildlife and the ecosystem processes within protected areas and in multi-use landscapes covering production forests and plantation areas.
Completed university degrees in three different continents (Asia, Europe, and America). Received Ph.D. in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences from Virginia Tech, USA; MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation from the University of East Anglia, UK; and Sarjana Sains in Biology from the University of Indonesia.
Involved in conserving various taxa, mainly birds and large terrestrial mammals including tigers, elephants, rhinos, and orangutans. Currently a member of 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 Species Survival Commission's Specialist Groups for Cats; Asian Elephants; and Asian Rhinos. A recipient of the British Government's Chevening Award in 1999, and Kinship Conservation Fellowship since 2019.

Capacity Building
To enhance the capacity of the group members and key partners by firstly identifying the skills required to conduct species conservation planning and 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 Red List assessment, and then arranging a series of workshops annually to equip them with these skills. This will be supplemented by providing concise and easily understandable 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 guidelines/tools in Bahasa Indonesia to be used by the members and government partners.

The routine internal meetings are conducted once or twice a month and are usually attended by the co-chair, interns, and the IdSSG group advisor. The meetings take place at the CTSS (Center for Transdisciplinary and Sustainability Sciences), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, which serves as the secretariat host for IdSSG. Through these regular meetings, we aim to strengthen the IdSSG secretariat as an initial step to bridge future activities.

The first workshop was successfully conducted in a hybrid format with the participation of approximately 60 members of IdSSG on June 15, 2023. The purpose of this meeting was to inform about the formation journey of IdSSG, provide information about IdSSG membership, and develop short-term work plans/programs of IdSSG until 2025.

We discussed the work plan for assessing species in the Sumatra region, including the timeline, fundraising plan, task force members, taxa to be the focus of the study, criteria for prioritizing updates to the Red List Assessment (RLA), and determining the tools to be used for conducting the RLA.

IdSSG participated in the Sulawesi Small Mammal Workshop organized by the 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 SSC Small Mammal Specialist Group. The workshop took place from May 1-4, 2023, in Bogor, with the aim of studying small mammal species in Sulawesi and developing conservation action plans for these species. Representatives from the 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 SSC Small Mammal Specialist Group and experts from Sulawesi engaged in discussions and collaborated during the workshop.
