This Specialist Group (SSG) focus is to assess the status and act to conserve wild salmonids throughout their native range.

Chair
Pete is a research ecologist with experience working in a variety of freshwater, estuarine and marine environments. He holds a PhD in ecology and has focused most of his career on studies of salmon biology and life history. His work has helped advance conservation and fisheries management. He attended Colgate University, and received his graduate degrees from State University of New York, and was a postdoc at University of British Columbia. He served on the faculty at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was the Conservation Biologist at the Wild Salmon Center in Portland, Oregon before joining the staff at the Prince William Sound Science Center in the spring of 2015. In recent years Pete has been leading studies of salmonids endemic to Asia, including taimen and masu salmon, in Japan, Russia and China. He volunteers as the Chair of the 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 Salmonid Specialist Group, a small, international group focused on advancing conservation and management, and increasing public awareness, of threatened fishes in the salmon family across the world. At PWSSC he is leading studies of interactions between wild and hatchery Pacific salmon and conducting acoustic surveys of Pacific herring.

The 香港六合彩开奖结果现场直播 SSG is composed of a diverse set of specialists with many years of research and conservation experience. 聽We currently have 24 members representing 11 countries in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Our membership includes academics, representatives from NGOs, and government agencies. 聽Our current leadership structure includes a Chair, two Regional Chairs (Atlantic and Pacific), and a Red List Authority Coordinator.聽
MISSION
Identify, assess status, describe key threats, and act to protect the diversity of populations and life histories of salmonids (fishes in the family Salmonidae) throughout their native range in the Northern Hemisphere and work to reduce or mitigate negative effects caused by introduced salmonids around the world.
We continue to support efforts in research and conservation of salmonids, and investing time to strengthen partnerships throughout the world.
