Dr Thuraya AL SARIRI
Biographies Thuraya Said AL Sariri I have Joined the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in 2000 as an environmental specialist for over six years in the Marine Pollution Control Section.. In 2005 I was appointed as a Director of Marine Protection Department since there I have developed and worked on many important programs that conserve the mangrove ecosystems and coral reefs communities.. Since late 2010 until Mid-2015 I worked as a Director of Biodiversity Department where I worked as the technical focal point to follow the CBD, CITES, Biosafety Protocol, UN Convention on Combating Desertification and Indian Ocean and South East Asia Maine Turtle MOU. From Mid-2015 until recently I am working as an assistance director general of nature conservation where I have the main responsibilities to develop and follow up implementation of all natural programs and activates on marine, biodiversity conservation and development of protected areas in Oman In addition I am a member of different national committees relating to biodiversity and climate change affairs. I am working also as an internal consultant for several projects in the Ministry such as project on preparing the national adaption strategy of climate change and mapping of land degradation in Oman. I have involved and collaborated in preparing many national reports and studied on the conservation of the Environment, sustainable development, Natural Resources and developing legislation. I have PhD from Surrey University in UK on the Coastal Zone and Climate Change Management in Oman and MSc from Southampton University in the UK and Bachelor Degree on Biology from Sultan Qaboos University.
