Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute
The Institute was established as a conduit for research, knowledge-sharing and collaboration in support of conservation of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, based on a unique model that included five government agencies and three universities as founding members. The Institute takes an across-the-landscape cross-jurisdictional approach and in its first ten years of operation, instigated 30 projects spanning ecological science, socio-economic analyses, cultural heritage (including Indigenous), community cultural development, and stakeholder and community engagement forums. The Institute鈥檚 research has a practical orientation that engages a range of stakeholders who are often unconventional partners in protected area conservation.
