The programme was compiled by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Mediterranean office for the MAVA Foundation, based on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Mediterranean Programme 2013-2016 and 2017-2020, the MAVA Programme for Biodiversity and as a result of consultation and meetings with MAVA Foundation.
This programme takes into account the results of the previous collaboration with MAVA and take into consideration the new MAVA Outcome Action plans strategy and also the new Strategy of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥-Med developed in 2019. It aims at supporting conservation projects in the Mediterranean and at strengthening the capacities of MAVA community partners .

The programme is divided into 5 Strategic lines with 16 objectives:
Strategic Line 1: Enhance cooperation and coordination between all Mediterranean stakeholders in order to influence governance and institutional processes for effective conservation and sustainable management of Mediterranean biodiversity and natural resources.
Strategic Line 2: Improve knowledge on biodiversity and on the management of areas of importance for biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Region.
Strategic Line 3: Foster networking, capacity building, and exchange of experiences for effective conservation of Mediterranean socio-ecological and cultural systems.
Strategic Line 4: Empower civil society for the conservation, sustainable use, and restoration of natural resources through Nature-Based Solutions.
Strategic Line 5: Promote nature conservation via innovative information and communication tools to meet ongoing needs for environmentally sound decision-making and effective knowledge sharing on the status of Mediterranean biodiversity.

The programme will be implemented in collaboration with main Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ partners (UNEP/MAP, ACCOBAMS, GFCM-FAO, UfM, UNESCO World Heritage, UMA) and the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Commission experts and Members in the region.
