BOBLME Strategic Action Programme
One of the key outcomes of the Sustainable Management of the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) project is the Strategic Action Programme (SAP), which specifies remedial national and regional actions to address the issues affecting the health and ecosystem of the Bay of Bengal, identified in the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA).
The BOBLME Project officially started in April 2009 and its in-country activities were completed in December 2015. It was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the participating Governments, with an original estimated budget of US$ 31 million. The FAO was both the GEF Agency and the Executing Agency for the Project.
