Abstract

The Moroccan population of the Great Bustard Otis tarda, a Vulnerable species according to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Red List of Threatened Speciesâ„¢, is small and declining, surviving mainly in two breeding areas (leks) and numbering some 40 to 50 birds. The goal is that by 2025, the key leks of Araoua and Tleta-Rissana will be safeguarded by appropriate national designations and strong community support, with the Great Bustard population increased to 80-100 birds and starting to expand to former areas.Â
