Former Chair of WCEL Ethics Specialist Group awarded 2021 Carlowitz Sustainability Prize
WCEL would like to congratulate Dr. Klaus Bosselmann, former Chair of the WCEL Specialist Group on Ethics, for receiving the 2021 Carlowitz Sustainability Prize (international category).
Dr. Bosselmann is a Professor of Environmental Law and Founding Director of the New Zealand Centre for Environmental Law at the University of Auckland. He is the author numerous books and articles on environmental ethics and law, political ecology, international environmental law and global governance. He has also written extensively on the Earth Charter including the book聽聽which he co-edited with Ron Engel.
As Chair of the WCEL Specialist Group on Ethics, Dr. Bosselmann coordinated a number of international research collaborations in the area of sustainability law and governance. His research focus is on the conceptual and international dimensions of environmental law and governance. He is particularly interested in sustainability ethics with respect to climate change, biodiversity, justice, human rights, legislation, democracy and international law.
In 2009, Dr. Bosselmann was also awarded the Inaugural Senior Scholarship Prize of the , the global body of environmental law scholars.
