Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme

Initiated in 2014, the Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme (ITHCP) is a grant-making initiative which contributes to theÌý(GTRP).

Tiger populations have plummeted from aroundÌý100,000 individualsÌýin 1910 toÌý3,200 individualsÌýin 2010,Ìýoccupying 7% of their original range. Poaching, habitat destruction and human-wildlife conflict are to blame. EffectiveÌýpolicy and conservation programmesÌýare imperative for tiger survival.Ìý

Funded byÌýÌývia, conservation efforts are currently scheduled to run untilÌý2027. Divided into different phases, the programme consists of four phases that invest on high-quality projects in key Tiger Conservation Landscapes in countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Nepal and Myanmar.

Phase II, III and IV of the programme are running in parallel. Unlike previous phases, Phase IV expanded its focus to include other Pantherine species, in particular leopards and clouded leopards.
