Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ seeks applications from qualified individuals with protected areas management experience in the Western Balkans to serve as the key expert on a project aiming to enhance the management of twoÌýsites in North Macedonia.
Ohrid Lake, North Macedonia
TheÌýexpert will coordinate a technical team in drafting and then holding consultations on a valorisation study for Lake Ohrid, and management plans for both Lake Ohrid and the Shar Mountains. He/sheÌýwill also work with a coordination team, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of North Macedonia, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ and UNEP.
This project, implemented by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ and funded by UNEP, addresses components of the overarching GEF-funded project Achieving Biodiversity Conservation through Creation and Effective Management of Protected Areas and Mainstreaming Biodiversity into Land Use Planning, the aims of which include expanding and improving the sustainability of the protected areas system in North Macedonia. The assignment will begin as soon as possible and, it is anticipated, continue at least until the end of the year.
