Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystems Phase I Final Report

The Sustainable Management of the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem (BOBLME) project focused on laying the foundations for change to improve the health of the Bay of Bengal and its fisheries.

Implemented in 2009-2015, this final report provides insight to the project's Theory of Change, implementation, major achievements, lessons learned and key results.

The BOBLME Project officially started in April 2009 and its in-country activities were completed in December 2015. It was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the participating Governments, with an original estimated budget of US$ 31 million. The FAO was both the GEF Agency and the Executing Agency for the Project.
