Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ at the 9th World Water Forum

The 9th World Water Forum took place in Dakar, Senegal from 21 to 26 March 2022. The Forum is organised every three years yet –like many others- the conference wasÌýdelayed by a year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The conference did maintain the traditional scheduling around World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March each year.

This year the focus of World Water Day, and the accompanying UN World Water Development Report, focused on groundwater. The wasÌýlaunched on Tuesday 22 March with a special plenary at the Forum.Ìý

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ was present with a delegation consisting of programme and project staff from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ West and Central Africa office, as well as a few staff members from headquarters. The theme of the World Water Forum wasÌý‘Water Security for Peace and Development’. The Forum consistedÌýof high-level panels, thematic sessions, side events and an exhibition area.Ìý

In the expo space, aÌýpavilion dedicated to the theme of nature and water was established by 12 environmental organisations. TheÌý‘Nature Hub’Ìý- of which Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ was aÌýcollaborating partner - held dailyÌýsessions, presentations, meetings and launches, see full programme and livestream links here:Ìý.
